As the ultimate home away from home, luxury hotels can be a fantastic source of design inspiration. By the time February rolls around, the cold weather can start to loose its charm. And with Valentine’s Day just around the corner, what better time to explore three romantic hotels all located in their own versions of paradise.
The Bellevue Syrene’s style defies definition. This Italian hotel is part old world elegance, part modern edge, and altogether amazing. The most noteworthy elements of it unique design are the way the rooms play with light and color.
The hotel’s website describes its accommodations as “Rooms full of sky, coloured by light.” It’s a perfect description because, while the colors they use are bold, they never weigh down the rooms. Plenty of natural light keeps the overall look relaxing and beautiful rather than overpowering.
The Bellevue doesn’t shy away from color. And the juxtaposition of bright modern hues against ornate mirrors and elaborately painted ceilings is truly eye-catching.
For our next getaway, we’re traveling to Mykonos to take a look at the gorgeous Boheme Mykonos Hotel. The hotel’s website describes its style as “contemporary,[and] naturally modern.” It’s the perfect description for this Island escape.
The blue and white colors are a nod to the familiar Grecian color scheme, yet at the same time feel utterly original.
Luxurious isn’t synonymous with seriousness. A touch of whimsy can keep a hotel room from feeling run of the mill. Boheme does a truly artful job of introducing a bit of fun to its minimalist design using creative lighting.
Of course, like any luxury hotel, the ultimate design tool Boheme has at its disposal is the surroundings. And they take advantage of the blissful views of the Aegean Sea to their full potential. The take-home lesson: if you have a view, keep those sight lines in mind.
For our third and final tour, we’re moving to Playa del Carmen and the incredible Blue Diamond Riviera Maya. This hotel is a modern design lover’s dream come true.
The Blue Diamond may be one of the most luxurious examples of how texture makes an all white space feel anything but boring.
This hotel also knows how to use its extravagant views. They literally break down the walls whenever possible. Glass and open concept spaces invite the tropical outdoors in and the inside out.
